Carnegie Science Center brings the world of science alive for visitors of all ages. Old Economy Village, originally named “Oekonomie”, was built 1824 -1830. Today, six acres of “Oekonomie” are preserved as a National Historic Landmark site. Restored buildings are furnished with collections of the Harmony Society, a German communal group known for its' industrial prosperity in textiles, manufacturing, railroads and winemaking. Visitors are able to perform historic chores, may encounter traditional craftsmen and can view historic structures, formal gardens, paintings, tools and a model railroad layout. The Visitor Center offers an orientation film, exhibits, and a museum store.
